o  Quote of the Week

There are some weeks when we get caught up in the business of “doing”.  These are often the weeks when we face challenges and breakdowns.  Especially technological ones – when servers go down, computers crash and data gets lost.  Deb and I had one of those weeks at Synergy.  During such times it’s easy to get consumed by the “content” of life, by all the busy work and the “to do list”.  As coaches we make a distinction between “content” and “context”.  When we get bogged down by the "doing" or “content”, we sometimes lose sight of the “context” - who we are “being” and why we are doing what we are doing.  The challenge is to remember to keep our eyes steady on the big picture – and keep the end in mind.  I am always grateful for the “angels” in my life who help me to remember.  This week I will share the story of an angel I met in the most unlikely place on a visit to the dentist for root canal!

To your continued success,

Adoley

Lessons from the Dental Chair by: Adoley Odunton

Recently I discovered I needed a root canal to replace the crown that had just been installed.  I’d heard all the root canal horror stories.  I dreaded my appointment.  My dentist recommended a specialist in Beverly Hills.  He was booked for weeks but when I explained I was flying the next day, his assistant squeezed me in.  After an hour, I saw Dr. Etassami. He shook my hand firmly with both hands, looked me straight in the eyes and asked me how I would like to be addressed.  Have you ever noticed how many doctors introduce themselves as Dr. X and assume you want to be called Freda whether you are 8 or 80?  Dr. E checked in first.  He took time to explain why I was having the work done “twice” and to assure me that my dentist had done a good job.  Given the expense, I appreciated this.  Soon my mouth was full of instruments. My heart sank as he began drilling for what seemed like hours.  ……Click here to read how to find out what happened

7 Keys: To avoid just "doing" at the expense of "being"

  1. Always keep the end in mind.  Remember "why" you are doing what you are doing.
  2. Take time to breathe!  It will center you and keep you present.
  3. Make planning a priority.  You will need to do less and have more time to just be.
  4. Schedule regular breaks to recharge your batteries and gain perspective.
  5. Do things you enjoy for no reason at all.
  6. Get physical.  It helps move you out of your head and brings you into the present.
  7. Keep a gratitude journal.  Write down 10 things you are grateful for daily.

Hypnosis - A powerful tool to make lasting changes in your habits, emotional triggers and associations.

Deborah and Adoley trained to be hypnotists because of their recognition of the power of the subconscious mind to control so much of our behavior.

Our conscious mind is responsible for reasoning, decision-making and will power. However it represents just 12% of our mind.  The other 88% represents our subscoscious mind.  Hypnosis allows us to access our subconscious mind to change these patterns with the conscious mind still present.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to change behavior.  You can use it to reduce stress, lose weight, quit smoking, enhance performance, overcome fears and phobias, sleep better and increase your powers of focus, concentration and memory.

Recently Adoley's and her husband purchased Positive Changes Hypnosis Center of Fullerton which specializes in weight loss, smoking and stress reduction. To find out more call 714-525-1700.

To work privately with Adoley or Deborah and use hypnosis to produce powerful results in your life, call 310-945-5651.
